SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY
Partnering with Relationships Australia Tasmania
Stay ChatTY has been working with RA Tas since 2014, delivering suicide prevention and mental health promotion programs across Tasmania.
Stay ChatTY's partnership with RA Tas is an exciting collaboration and will provide Stay ChatTY with day-to-day operational and governance support, allowing the team to engage with more communities and individuals across Tasmania. All donations and funds raised for SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY will continue to be used to deliver mental health promotion and suicide prevention programs to further both our collective mission.
Programs
Speaking Engagements
Mitch and the team speak to community groups and workplaces to promote the SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY message. Mitch shares his personal story and the far reaching impacts that suicide has on families and communities.
SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY shares key messages that’s it ok not to be ok, where to find help, and how we can help each other out in tough times.
Speaking engagements can run from 30 minutes to an hour. There is no fee, but donations to help us continue our work are appreciated.
We acknowledge that the subject of suicide may be difficult for many people. Mitch delivers his personal story with sensitivity, and in alignment with existing best practice guidelines for safe language.

Schools Program
SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY delivers a free Schools Program for students Grades 9 – 12 that raises mental health awareness and builds student resilience and confidence to seek help and look after their mental health.
The team uses an evidence-informed universal awareness approach to deliver a strong message that it is ok not to be ok and that we can all play a role in promoting mental health at school.
The program is based around Mitch’s personal story, and incorporates storytelling, information-sharing and interactive activities.
The Program also offers free teacher and parent sessions to schools that build mental health awareness and provides information on how to help young people.
The Schools Program is funded and supported by the Tasmania Government Department of Education and offered to eligible Department of Education Schools.

Sports Program
SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY works in collaboration with the Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s Good Sports Program to deliver mental health literacy training to clubs across Tasmania.
The Stay ChatTY Sports Program facilitates an evidence-informed mental health awareness workshop to club players, coaches and managers. The workshop aims to help participants understand mental health, recognise signs and symptoms, seek help, and help out a team mate.
We also support clubs to run mental health sporting rounds.
The Sports Program sits alongside the Good Sports Healthy Minds Program, which helps clubs develop mental wellbeing policies and procedures to create an inclusive and supportive club environment.
