Healthy Tasmania Neighbour Day Challenge 2020

Neighbour Day 2020 – Social Connection: The community you want starts at your front door

We invite you to get involved in Neighbour Day 2020.

Everyday is Neighbour Day and a celebration of community, bringing together like-minded people and organisations to grow stronger, well-connected communities.

Check out the Neighbour Day website for ideas and resources to support neighbourly action in your community.

Your neighbourly action can be as simple or as wide-reaching as you like!

We strongly recommend partnering with other community organisations.

By working together you’re helping to create social connections that not only make us feel better, but help prevent loneliness, isolation and depression.

The Healthy Tasmania Neighbour Day Challenge encourages people to reach out in different ways to create connections with those around them.

Healthy Tasmania Community Challenge

Healthy Tasmania, a government and community partnership, is excited to support Neighbour Day with a community challenge, and is working with Relationships Australia to inspire Neighbour Day in our everyday around the state.

Recieve from $500 to $5000 for your community.

In the spirit of making every day Neighbour Day in 2020, Tasmanian organisations or businesses are invited to enter the Healthy Tasmanian Neighbour Day Community Challenge to apply for $500 up to $5 000 for their community.

Just email us at by 10 April 2020, and tell us in 500 words or less:

1. About your group and wishful Neighbour Day experience for 2020.
2. How much ($500 - $5000) you would need to spend in your town or neighbourhood to help create social connections and address loneliness in your community within 2020 (now or later).

Think outside the box for ways to build positive and sustainable social connections. We understand that getting together face-to-face at this time may not be possible but finding other ways to connect and engage with their neighbours and communities can be.

Examples include promotional ideas to encourage online groups of projects in your community that connects people of different ages.

Community projects might include beautifying your town, a community space upgrade and getting people active or together to share skills.

Want more inspiration or ideas? See what previous winners have done to serve their community.

All entrants will be selected on merit and awarded between $500 - $5 000 based on the estimate of funds needed. To be announced 22 April 2020, see Terms and Conditions.
